1993 - My first pastel drawing done as a student. I started drawing this work without knowing where it would lead. What came about was that what was in my heart so I called it the Fruit of the Spirit, Heart and Soul. The aim is to bear good fruit in life where the most important one of all is love. 1993 - Part of my rusted metal range. A self portrait. This was a vision I had where I portrayed my own features with strong prominent characteristics that symbolizes inner strength and masculinity (spiritually). The eagle represents faith and the praying hands represent prayer and we become stronger (warriors), breaking the chains, when we have faith and pray. We are looking out waiting for miracles to happen because we have faith and soar like eagles above everything that perishes like rust in the wind. Available unframed R8000

1994 - Part of a range of rusted metal and gear. Tells the story of life/work that is constantly in creation every day confronting our negative (rusted) obstacles that hinder us from entering God's domain. When Jesus died on the cross for our sins and problems, as the curtain in the temple tore, that we are free to enter into His holiness. The wall at the back represents that He has broken down the walls in love so that we can reach Him everyday. Available unframed R10 000

The Man in the middle

1994 - This was also part of a range during my student days where I experimented with drawing rusted objects and using them as symbols to tell a story. The theme is the mysterious reflection of a man in the middle – a modern day crucifixion where Jesus was the man in the middle. His reflection in the bucket of water symbolizes that He is the sustenance of life and rust symbolizing that all things pass away, but His eternity lasts forever. Available unframed R8000
